TAXIDERMY GATOR SCUTE cured but NOT cleaned!
These scutes have been tanned but they have NOT been cleaned!
They can be drilled, sanded, dyed they are now solid bone.
Some
WILL be gnarly, slightly raised ridge, some very pronounced, some with lots of texture.
They average in size from 1" inch to about 2" inches

So what are osteoderms or scutes of an alligator you ask?
Alligator Osteoderms are heavily vascularized and function as both armor and heat exchangers allowing the animal to regulate its body temperature.
So if you look closely at the bottom of the Osteoderm you will see tiny little holes where the veins would go through. Pretty cool I bet you did not know that.
