    Description

    Large Common Snapping Turtle Shell #441. The shell measures 12 1/2 inches wide by 12 1/4 inches long. Measurements are made with the curve of the shell. It has been preserved with Borax and sealed with clear polyurethane on the outside to preserve the natural color. Any defects or "battle scars" to the shell happened naturally and are quite common among this aggressive species. The underside of the shell has been whitened with hydrogen peroxide to produce a bone white finish. This shell in particular has a dark coloration with an outline of tan around the edge. There are also noticeable growth rings on the scutes.
