FEBRUARY 17: GREAT NEW LOWER PRICE!Vintage 1986 ALIENS 70MM FILM CELL STRIP OF FIVE FRAMES
VERY RARE. AUTHENTIC. GENUINE. VINTAGE.
Taken directly from a 70MM first run engagement print of ALIENS in 1986 while I was a theater manager at the time.
It has been stored in a dark, climate-controlled, odor-free, smoke-free environment for about 37-1/2 years.
The movie was the first sequel to the Ridley Scott film ALIEN, which was released in 1979.
ALIENS was released on July 14, 1986.
ALIENS stars SIGOURNEY WEAVER, MICHAEL BIEHN, PAUL REISER, BILL PAXTON, LANCE HENRIKSEN, and CARRIE HENN (as Newt) and was written and directed by JAMES CAMERON.
It went on to make over 0 million domestically during its theatrical release.
I was the manager at a movie theatre that played this movie during it's first run engagement in 1986 in the 70MM film format
Each 20 minute film reel required splicing into one continuous flim. and when putting the reels together onto the platter system used in the projection room, it was necessary to use the splicer and remove frames from the ends to perfectly align them and put them together end to end using splicing tape.
This is one piece of such splicing.
This rare five-frame piece comes from a genuine, authentic, real 70MM print of the film ALIENS that was shown in the theatre I managed in Silicon Valley at the time.
This is a scene with Ripley and Newt are resting together towards the end of the film feeling falsely safe.
Measures 70mm wide ×111mm in length (height).
Made in the USA.
CONDITION: USED, EXCELLENT however please review the photos and continue reading description to make your own decision as I am not a quality assessment expert.
There may be some surface scratches within the front and back of the film strip.
Intact sprocket holes on both sides of the film strip.
There is slight piece of traditional yellow splicing tape still on one side of the film surface (Please see photos).
The audio magnetic strips to the outside of the sprocket holes are intact (these strips contain the film's audio and they are located on one side of the film strip - the side that the magnetic strips don't look glossy).
Probably some aging but by the looks of it, there is very slight if any discoloration or oxidizing of this piece of 70MM film that I can see.
Selling As-Is.
